Top Five Most Annoying Malware Infections

Of all the thousands of malicious software ever to swim the tides of the internet, there are five that I consider most common and most annoying of all. They are the malware types that are commonly called browser redirects, adware, malware infections that will force a countdown to restart, malwares that slows down the computer significantly once it gets infected, and the malwares that slows down the internet speed of the computer to a tediously annoying rate. The days of deleting malwares just by a simple scan and remove in the computer are already long gone as the modern malware has evolved into somewhat nasty bugs in the computing world.

First annoying malware to top the list is the Browser Hijacker, more commonly called as Browser redirects. It is considered one of the internet’s constant dangers. A browser hijacker is a type of malware that switches the existing internet browser default homepage, error page or web search page with its own. These are almost always used to force hits to a particular website. They are a kind of external code that changes your internet browser’s settings. A browser hijacker may also deny access to certain websites like anti-malware download pages that are known to disable the malware.

Another type is the adware. An adware is an advertising-supported program or any software that automatically displays or downloads advertisements into a computer without permission. The ads can be in pop-up forms and its main objective is to generate income for its maker. The adware in itself is considered harmless, however, some may contain integrated spyware to track and get user’s information and other privacy-invasive types of software. Some are then considered as spyware due to the fact that the adware may steal information and transfer them to third parties online.

A seriously annoying malware infection to hit the web is the worm which gives you a pop-up message saying your computer is about to restart within 60 seconds or something like that. Some examples of this type of worm are the Blaster Virus, Master Blaster Virus and the SASSER worm. Their common action in the computer is that they spread from computer to computer and initiate a countdown to restart every time the computer is turned on for more than 20 minutes. You will not be given any choice as the computer will really shut down no matter what you are doing.

As viruses are overly spread across the internet, thousands of them are created to generally slow down the computer’s performance by taking up too much memory in the RAM or destroying the Registry, thus making the computer respond slowly, eventually crashing it. Some types of these malwares create their own processes on the task manager and making the computer respond slowly. This can be very annoying for computer users especially those that are on the computer to do some important work.

There are also malwares that slow the internet’s speed. These types of malware install themselves on the computer posing as search engines or add-ons that will just be there to get information and clog up the system’s memory resulting in slow internet loading speed. These malwares that are in the computer can be removed by strong anti-viruses and updated scanners. Constant prevention and cleanup of the computer is the best way to prevent computers from ever getting into these types of computer problems.
